Warning: never look directly into the light of the UV lamp. This can damage skin and eyes. Always follow the safety instructions of your product with UV light.
Checking Proper Functioning of UV Lamp
A UV lamp in your filter system may become ineffective over time. Also, a UV lamp is fragile and may be damaged. It is therefore important to check after installation, replacement or after a period of time whether your UV lamp is still working properly. The filter systems from BluGarda that contain a UV lamp are all equipped with a 'viewing window' to check if the UV lamp is still working.
Steps to check if the UV lamp is still working
- Consult the manual of your product to ensure that the UV lamp and the filter system are properly connected
- Turn on the filter system with the UV lamp, making sure it does not run dry
- Look at the viewing window of the filter system to check if a blue glow is coming out
- When it lights up blue, the UV lamp is still working. Does it not light up blue? Please contact our customer service.
Please note: replace the UV lamp in time, after 8,000 burning hours the UV lamp is less effective and algae may reoccur. The lamp will still light up blue, so you cannot clearly see this on the lamp.
Functioning difficult to see in daylight
The blue glow coming from the UV lamp is often difficult to see in daylight. This is because the glow through the viewing glass is quite weak. Therefore, check it at dusk/dark or, if possible, place your hands around the viewing glass to check the functioning.
When should you replace the UV lamp?
We recommend replacing the UV-c lamp every season or after 8,000 burning hours. Does the UV lamp show a defect? Then it is also advisable to replace the lamp for optimal functioning.
In each of our products you can easily replace the lamp yourself. See the manual of the BluFilter, BluClear or BluPressure how to replace the UV-c lamp.
